The Story behind our Netherlands (Oranje Huis) Tartan

Originally designed in 2013, the Netherlands (Oranje Huis) tartan was officially launched in 2017 to mark the UEFA Women’s EURO 2017, hosted by the Netherlands. International Tartans created the design as a tribute to our Dutch friends, celebrating centuries of economic and cultural exchange between Scotland, the Netherlands, and Flanders, dating as far back as the 15th century.

The tartan gained national attention when Mandy van den Berg, captain of the Netherlands team, and manager Arjen van der Laan proudly wore Oranje Huis tartan scarves and ties during the tournament as a symbol of friendship and unity as the Dutch team went on to claim victory.
