About Australia Tartan
The Design of our Australia Tartan
The tartan combines the colours of the Australian Flag and its dramatic green and gold. All of our tartan is woven locally with 100% British wool, and can be ordered by the metre or half metre. We can also create a bespoke India tartan product for you. Choose from a wide range which includes kilts, shawls, ties, cosmetic bags and more. They will be handmade in our workshop in the South of Scotland.
The Story behind our Australia Tartan
Commissioned in 2013 by Scots living in Australia, this tartan was designed to offer the people of Australia an opportunity to celebrate their cultural and heritage links with Scotland. It is a tartan that can be adapted to everyday wear and incorporates the historic green and gold colours of Australia – the gold representing their national floral emblem, the Golden Wattle, and the green from the Australian Coat of Arms.
