The Design of our Dunn Tartan

This Dunn Tartan was designed in celebration of the incredible history and heritage of a family of many entrepreneurs, academics and achievers. The colours are inspired by the Dunn Coat of Arms  which features blues and gold and give the tartan a classic modern feel. All of our tartan is woven locally with 100% British wool, and can be ordered by the metre or half metre. We can also create a bespoke Dunn tartan product for you.

The Story behind our Dunn Tartan

The Dunn Tartan was commissioned by Stuart Nichol of Edinburgh in 1999 for Ms Rona Dunn and for Dunn’s worldwide. The surname Dunn was recorded as far back as the Middle Ages in its earliest Gaelic variations with spellings including O’Dunne, O’Doyne, Doine, O’Dunn. As the centuries passed and the Dunns’ made their ways around the world many sought opportunities to reconnect with their Scottish and Irish Ancestry and this tartan was designed for them.  It is one of our more popular tartans with Scots and Irish Dunns in Canada, The US, Australia and across Europe enjoying a sense of connection and identity through their tartan.
