About Rwanda Tartan
One of the 'Tartans for Africa' collection created to strengthen the bonds of friendship between Scotland and Rwanda and to generate income for humanitarian projects in Rwanda. The work on developing the design was undertaken in collaboration with refugee and asylum seeker projects and multi-cultural organisations in Edinburgh and Glasgow, exploring cultural similarities between the Scotland and Rwanda. Approved by the Rwandan Ambassador to the UK in 2006, The design incorporates the colours in the flags of the two nations of Scotland and Rwanda.
