About St Andrews Tartan
The tartan commemorates St Andrew, the patron saint of Scotland. Its colours reflect the blue and white of the St Andrew’s Cross, symbolising the national flag of Scotland, while the purple and green honour the Scottish thistle and the country’s natural beauty. St Andrew is deeply woven into Scotland’s spiritual and cultural identity. According to legend, relics of the Saint were brought to the east coast of Scotland, what is now the town of St Andrews, marking the site as a place of pilgrimage and faith for centuries.
As Scotland’s patron saint, his legacy has come to represent courage, compassion, and moral integrity, values that have helped shape the character of the Scottish people throughout history.
This tartan celebrates the enduring spirit of St Andrew and the Scottish heritage that bears his name; linking the ancient legend to the enduring heart of the nation.
