About Uganda Tartan
One of the 'Tartans for Africa’ collection created to strengthen the bonds of friendship between Scotland and Uganda and to generate income for community enterprise and humanitarian projects. The design incorporates the colours in the flags of the two nations. This tartan was designed in 2006. As with many of our Tartans for Africa collection it involved multicultural and refugee organisations in Edinburgh and Glasgow. It was subsequently approved by the Ugandan High Commissioner to the UK and registered in 2007. More recently the tartan has been used by the Caledonian Society in Dar-es-Salaam to celebrate shared history and cultural exchanges between the two countries.
