About Zimbabwe Tartan
One of the 'Tartans for Africa’ collection created to strengthen the bonds of friendship between Scotland and Zimbabwe and to generate income for community enterprise and humanitarian projects. The design incorporates the colours in the flags of the two nations. This tartan was designed in 2006. As with many of our Tartans for Africa collection it involved multicultural and refugee organisations in Edinburgh and Glasgow. It was subsequently approved by the High Commissioner of Zimbabwe to the UK and registered in 2007. The Zimbabwe Tartan has been used by international development agencies to raise money for community projects in Zimbabwe and has been used in Zimbabwean community development projects for women and children.
