- Egypt Tartan
One of the 'Tartans for Africa' collection created to strengthen the bonds of friendship between Scotland and Egypt and to generate income for community enterprise and humanitarian projects. The design incorporates the colours in the Egyptian Tricolor. This tartan was designed over an 18-month period between 2006 and 2007 with Egyptian-Scots involved in choosing the balance of colour and the composition of the actual design. The golden yellow symbolises Egypt's national emblem, the eagle of Saladin, also reflected in Scottish symbolism for beauty, power and wild places.
