The Design of our Siham Dabbagh Tartan

The Siham Dabbagh Tartan combines the colours of the Palestinian and Scottish flags – weaving together Palestinian heritage and Scottish tradition.

The Story behind Siham Dabbagh Tartan

This tartan was designed in 2024 in honour of Siham Dabbagh, a pioneer for Palestinian women’s rights and the preservation of Palestine’s history and heritage. Siham moved to Kuwait in 1969, and joined the General Union of Palestinian Women in the 1970s, taking leadership of the Kuwait branch in 1986. Amid the 1991 Gulf War, she returned to Amman, where she led the Palestinian Culture Centre until her passing in 2019. Through her work, she supported hundreds of Palestinians, empowering women and children in Jordan’s Refugees camps through educational support, creative industries and most notably - traditional embroidery. The Siham Dabbah Commemorative tartan was commissioned by Siham’s Granddaughter.
